Special Olympics Committee

 

CPO Crowell advised that the Special Olympics Softball Tournament is set for 9-10 August at the Academy baseball fields. The number of teams participating has increased over last years. Currently there have been 7 or 8 volunteers but more could be used.

 

Shirt/Jacket Committee

 

CPO Crowell advised that the order will be going out next week. One more reminder email will be sent trying to get additional last minute orders.

 

 

Old Business

 

CG Day scheduled for August 1 at the Academy.

 

Special Olympics softball tournament scheduled for 9-10 August.

 

 

New Business

 

Information regarding Resolutions for the National Convention presented to the membership by President Isherwood. A motion was made and accepted to have the Board of Directors meet to discuss the resolutions and report decisions to the membership.

 

Good of the Order

 

MCPO D’Amico has an Aramark employee that has to leave the area for personal reasons and would like assistance in loading a truck on Saturday 2 August. MCPO D’Amico to coordinate.

 

MCPO Creighton presented information regarding work on possible lock systems for the Mess. He also informed the members of funding available for furniture and that MCPO D’Amico will be coordinating the order. A ribbon cutting is expected next week and a large turnout of Chief’s is encouraged. Email notification will be sent when the time is determined.

 

MCPO Kevin Isherwood commented on the new CPO Mess and explained that the Coast Guard is starting to make sure the CPO’s  have a location to call their own. He did stress that we should make sure the space is actively used and should be strongly defended from encroachment by other parties.

 

President Isherwood listed the dates for the football games and Windjammers. This information is also shown on our web site. Time to start planning and solicit additional volunteers for the concession stand.

 

Next meeting: 26 Aug 2003 in the CPO Mess.
