Southeastern Connecticut Chapter News Letter 2/4

Greetings,

Its time again to give you an up date on the happenings of our chapter. We continue to do well. Once more, its thanks to all the hard work committee members and volunteers are doing for the Chapter, Community and Coast Guard.

In December several members of our chapter attended the Special Olympics annual Christmas party held at the O-club. Three Olympic Gold medals were presented to ARMARK, SECONN CPOA, and CPO Bob Crowell. All for Outstanding Dedicated Service to the Special Olympics. Our chapter Gold Medal is on display in the Chiefs Mess.

By the time you read this letter the Special Olympics Penguin Plunge will have passed. It was Feb 21 at Ocean Beach New London. Last year it was a beautiful sunny day with 10” of snow on the beach. This year rain and cold is in the forecast. PO Kelly Taylor is the Coast Guard’s Chairperson; She has recruited Cadets, CG Civilians, Enlisted folks and Chiefs for this event. Chuck DAmico crafted an ICE Sculptor of a Penguin for the event.

The new Chief’s Mess is completed. Now we just have to set up the dedication ceremony. We have had several lunch time meetings, with food prepared by our Master Chef Chuck DAmico.

We are planning another appreciation dinner for all the volunteers that helped at our concession stand. Mark your calendars for March 17. We will notify you with the time and other information soon.

By now every CPOA member should have received the CHIEF magazine. Please take a minute to VOTE for the National President. All other national seats were unopposed. Please don’t forget to write your membership number in the space provided. Your number should be on the mailing label. If for some reason you did not receive the CHIEF. Please contact the National Office, our membership chairmen MCPO Chuck DAmico or a chapter officer.

Our next chapter meeting will be March 02, 2004 at lunchtime in the Chiefs Mess. We are asking for a $1.00 donation for lunch. We will be reviewing our budget, make final plans for the appreciation dinner and several other items that need to be considered.

Yours in service,
